Appeal Court Declares Jegede as Ondo PDP Candidate

The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has ruled against Jimoh Ibrahim, as it sets aside Justice Abang’s judgement on the legitimate candidate for PDP.
Justice Saulawa of Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has set aside Justice Okon Abang’s ruling that gave INEC order to publish Jimoh Ibrahim’s name as Ondo PDP candidate for Saturday’s election.
The Appeal Court constituted to resolve all appeals in the Ondo State People’s Democratic, PDP, governorship ruled that Mr Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, is the authentic candidate of the party in the November 26 governorship election in Ondo state.
The Appeal Court said principle of natural justice demands that all sides are given fair hearing and that Abang had no jurisdiction to order INEC to publish Jimoh’s name as Ondo PDP candidate.
Justice Ibrahim Salauwa-led three-member panel, after counsel to parties had argued their applications, set aside Abang’s ruling and subsequently declared Jegede the valid candidate of the PDP.
It would be recalled that Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court on October 14 ordered the Independent National Elect0ral Commission, INEC to recognize Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, as the flag-bearer of the PDP, for the November 26 governorship election State.
The judgement also directed INEC to only deal with the Sherrif-led faction instead of the Markafi-led group.
